Let's talk about something, nothing,

make it last hours, little showers of

happiness on a September afternoon,

rain dropping and heat flopping on

its stomach, mutt on the back porch,

cat in the grass, surpassing the

estimated end point, a coin coming

out of the machine, minted brilliance

mimicking material, a representation

of capital, your body sold alongside

your soul, to meet a deadline full or

howling needy things, it brings me to

my knees in this September rain,

inherit all the blame and try not to

shrug, would leave it all behind for a

hug, and someone to whisper that

they love me
