What splendid warmth may be found inside
A heart that’s scarred from pain
Which hold’s the knowledge of a past that’s died
Leaving understanding to remain

Each scar is an aching remnant of painful blows
Which have cut the heart like a knife
Inflicted there by the hand of woe
Held fast by grief and strife

There are hearts you find who heal and gain
A strength beyond belief
Whose warmth can comfort those in pain
Through understanding bring relief
