You live and you learn
and sometimes might love
you'll never know why

Everything's happy

but relationships get stranded
by the stresses of life

But the phone calls don't come

"does he really still want me?"

You see the bright side

You greet him with joy
but the favor is not returned
as you enter his place

you cry, plead and beg
you're not ready to let go
but sometimes with heartbreak
you just don't run the show

you cry about how you'll miss him
and his perfect  warm touch
somehow ice cream in a friends' car
never hurt so much

You can play all of the games
of "what-ifs" and "who cares"
but when it's all said and done
he just couldn't be there.

Your heart may be broken
and your ego bruised
but sometimes in life
you just feel used

So, go ahead and cry
but don't waste too many tears
because remember my friend,
you're still young in years

You couldn't forget him
even if you try
but the memories will fade
and soon you won't care why

Now you're on a new page
you're starting a new chapter
and you know that had you stayed together
there wouldn't be a "happily ever after"

Forgiveness is key
to re-writing your story
when you finally let go
you'll be in your glory

So keep on writing your story--
you've only just began
be open to love
someone exciting and new is waiting to hold your hand.
