A Fool was I...

Precious stones

Amount to plenty,

Found in places

Far and deep unknown,

Whilst I searched

For that one jewel that would

Place a twinkle in my eyes,

Far and wide

Through night & day,

Throughout the four known hemispheres,

By land; sea, sky time & space,

Miles turned to days; endless years

I searched to no avail; hopeless

There was no treasure map to guide me,

Just a thought; a wish; a plea,

But just as my travels an end had sought

I turned to look around me

Home once more,

And there I realized

At least not late,

I had sought the wrong treasure

It was there all along

Within my grasp,

She; my love; my life; precious diamond

Her eyes shining stars; which long ago

Had captivated me; and made her

The beautiful apple of my eyes,

A fool was I...
