Paint me a Rainbow room
I sit here wondering what you think of me,
If I’m to be just love’s next greatest casualty.
Outta sight, outta mind.
Left with nothing but cliches to keep me warm.
Enveloped in my paranoia, my truest fear.
I didn’t mean to leave you behind.
(I was hoping you wouldn’t let me adventure alone).
My soul is supposed to be opening.
But I can feel my mind clenching tighter.
Holding on the drunken idea of you, even as
sober me can’t remember what you feel like.
I might be gone just long enough to lose you.
Just long enough to have to start alone, again.
Can’t my new chapter just be a re-issue?
I might be gone just long enough to love you.
Even as you let my memory fade
Into the past,
Slipping through my grasp,
Wondering if you were nothing but a summertime dream.
Maybe you were just my nightmare.
