Sometime in the countless hours of darkness
an 'I love you' rolled of his tired tongue
scared at first but thankful at least
I kissed each cheek
whispering back I love you more than that
more than the moon, the stars, even air
and kissed his lips gently;
There we stayed for hours,
he sighed, closed eyes
skin on bare skin
finally in tune with the universe.
