Eurydice, Walking Away
Save me,
she writes.
Take me
from here,
everyone is
dead, even
I feel dead.
She reads
his messages
in the dark.
"I'll come
for you,
I promise."
She climbs
for hours,
in the castle
of bone.
"But what
do you look
like?" he asks.
Her heart
turns to water
in her chest.
"Show me,
show me
everything."
She's not surprised,
just disappointed.
She turns away
& steps back into
the black lane.
Another Orpheus
fails the test.
