LOVE THROUGH PITY
Nothing else but deepest love
burns so warmly in my heart.
I love people of all kinds,
Young and old, too dumb or smart.

Love is kindled in my heart,
aflame by the heat of grief
for what people endure through
this harsh and most horrid life.

What can man do in his life
except racing with swift time,
thinking that a little fame
helps him highest peaks to climb?

He runs fast from birth to death,
saving money, writing verse ;
then so quickly disappears
in a grave, his final house.
