You faded
Everyday
Right before me
Withered away
Confused and in pain
For everyone to see
Your skin whitened
Your face thinned
That ghoulish look would be
My final memory
I cared
And fed
And held
And led
And loved
And said
That you were not going to die
Such a hopeless lie
At least
The night before
your life passed by
I stared into
your barren eye
And tearfully signed goodbye
