The jelly bean poems /5
It was
a moment
I will never
forget.
I watched
close I
listened deep,
as your pain
was driven
into the
deep water.
and I am
certain.
Hell died
in your
eyes today.
and the
sun burned
all the
places in
your life
of doubt
and pain
naked,
parched
to ashes
and burnt
offerings.
and afterward
you sat in
a field
of washed
out yellow
flowers,
and pecan
colored dirt.
and you
fingered round
circles over
and over again
in the Earth.
and above
your eyes
were miles
and miles
of jelly bean
clouds.
ready to
burst...
in celebration,
and your
once torn
soul whispered
to you
with salvation,
and for the
first time
in a long
time you
answered
back.
