The sun shone so brightly
it washed out the sparkle in her eyes
or maybe I just couldn’t bring myself to look
As I was telling her goodbye

You see, I felt for her so lovingly
My heart breaking into two
Tears softly trickling down my face
Hoping she didn’t have a clue

I gave her a quick embrace
Then turned around and walked away
It was hard, but I didn’t look back
Kept my eyes forward, praying to make it through this day

She had held my heart with an iron grip
I could hardly breathe
But to her I was as replaceable
As a daisy on a summer’s eve

I wish I could mean more to her
But it’s always been this way
Nothing more than a friend to the girl I love
Never able to make her stay

She boarded the train to London
Adventure in her soul
I used to smile at the sound of her laughter
Now everything seems dull

Gray skies, gray sea, gray sidewalk
The train rumbles down the track
I ignore the stares of strangers
I so desperately want her back

Why is it, love has to be this way
That sometimes it’s not returned
To fall in love with someone so deeply
For you my broken heart will always yearn

I hope you find your happiness
As I will continue to search too
For someone who shines as brightly
As brightly as my girl called, Lou <3
