For the long forgotten days of old
Within my heart I pine
Days now so distant
Left so far behind

Days that seemed much kinder
When right was understood
Days of simple joy
Kind and right and good

Days of simple pleasures
No want of money's things
Computers , phones or TVs
No shining diamond rings

Just treasured days of summer
Offering their wealth of gold
Nightimes gift of silver
In the sky's our eyes behold

The beautiful sound of music
Coming from a robins throat
The peace of a butterfly
As upon the wind he floats

The simplest things of life
Are the things my heart desires
Mountains great and high
And trees that stand as spires
