I could feel you late last night
Knew that you were there
Watching with your empty eyes
As at the light you stared

I felt you reaching out your hand
To touch that of which you hate
And  I sighed at your attempt
To appease a hunger you can’t sate

Knowing that which you obsess to own
To shatter and defile
Is protected by a hedge of love
That reaches boundless miles

This hedge is my fortress
It burns bright with mighty fire
And each time you try and touch it
I watch the flames burn higher
