Last night
By your side
Transfixed
By the curve
Of your right breast
By the curve
Of its sweet shape

I gently
Stroked your left arm
Meaning to touch
In passing
For a second
This curve of your dear body

That I so often wonder at
That it should affect me so
That I should be transfixed

And last night a little later still
My hand sought under your night shirt
your firm back
Stroking the length
of its strength and wholeness
Did I pass through fingertips
a message of happiness and delight
that all this can be
as it seems?
