I loved her more than she loved him;
And I couldn't let her go as she held on to him,
I wanted her above all things;
And he wanted her amongst his things,
I knew her better than she knew me;
He knew her less than I knew him,
Every night I dreamt of her;
While every night she slept with him,
I tried mending her tattered heart;
While she crushed mine yearning for his,
But I still couldn't let her go;
I wouldn't; not for him,
My feelings betrayed just at the thought of her;
Why wouldn't my God let me die?
I had to deal with him not letting go of her;
Her heart I tried to pry away from him,
He had it tied to his finger commanding her;
Pulling on her leash; his face a sneering grin,
Wished I could be blind to her;
As she was to her captor; but she saw captain,
I thought I couldn't suffer with her out of sight;
But I did still; for her...
