Haunting memories burn my mind
Scattered in the breeze
While chasing mist that steals my pride
Brings me to my knees

Burning leaves of feelings past
Take my breath from me
I gasp for air that isn’t there
As if I forgot to breathe

They’re running over and spilling out
Into all that I can’t see
Will nothing stop this raging flood
Of haunting memories

A tender touch a fleeting smile
Ghosts of what has passed
Fade sweetly from me as I wake
I can breathe at last
