Jan 2019
she felt her heart shatter
but not loudly, in a way that glass would pierce through the air
but silently
as if the world had suddenly gone mute
it’s as if there were sound proof walls surrounding her heart
she felt broken
but her heart was not ready for the rest of her to feel it
when she saw him the next day,
it was as if a nail was being driven into her chest
but it was numb,
only a blunt pain that was easy to ignore
however, there came a day when her walls weren’t strong enough
and they slowly began falling brick by brick
until suddenly, she was crying
in her grandparent’s bedroom
at 11:11, wondering what had gone wrong
she felt everything she hadn’t felt before
it was cruel, but at the same time liberating
she still pretended to be okay
but no-one knows that the second his name was mentioned
or she saw his silhouette around her
her heart skipped a beat
because although she knew that she deserved better,
she couldn’t help but still feel.
