The tree stood for thousands of years
Its evolutionary path an unimaginable
Journey
Nothing disturbed either its pattern
Nor days;
A new virus evolved blowing its way
Eating its bark and destroying its leaves
Its pattern broken
Took fastly and down it fell
Leaving all that had passed
Behind;
Only rings and fossils
Tell of its life’s secrets
Crustationes carried in the wood.
