For whenever you may think of me
or whatever you may think of me,
allow me to make something abundantly clear;

Before I am your son & Before I am your father,
Before I am your brother
& before I am your your lover.
Before I am your cousin, nephew, foe or friend-
I am none of these to you,
I do not intend to dare pretend.
But what I am now,
today-
as compared to what has past....

            I am a Muslim,
                             first and last.
