Lonliness disguised itself in smiles
And pretty made up faces.
It doesn't show the wear and tear of the miles,
Hurt accumulated in places.
It dresses itself in many styles
Stockings, garters and laces.
And goes through such audacious wiles,
As to leave behind no traces.
You'll never know of its affliction or trials
Or what it's heart embraces.
