True Love

A blood red rose her petals meet
in delicate perfection
Closer in the centre, withstanding wind or storm
Prickles on her stem can never touch her heart
She is passion, she is nature’s work of art

The Roman goddess Venus held her sacred in the myth
From Cupid’s spill of nectar she was born
Do not underestimate this bloom from up above
She is harmony, desire, she is true love
