Night-Time

Beside my bed I lay at night,
Beside my body a patch of light,
Above my eyes a sea of stars,
In the distance the sound of cars.

I look in front and see the trees,
In search of glowing sleeping bees,
I see the blossoms closed up tight,
And sentinel owls taking flight.

As I look up I see the world,
The wonders of the universe,
Speckled dots chime,
They shine and will till the end of time.

I watch as the trees bow,
The crickets hop and singing now,
The night-time wind blows,
While the sheen of reflective waters flow.

The ribbons glow from the moon,
They focus in joyus tune.

Then I see the breeze catch fire,
In a spiralling rocket choir,
Filling the blackness with colour and light,
Illuminating the darkness of the night.

Soon the moon dies,
Letting the sun breathe,
Then I lay beside my bed,
Thinking of the stars in the night.
