I should've listened
to you,
to them,
to the wiser owls
and the once-foolish.

I should've heard
The things they said,
but instead
I've interpreted
My own head
Full of half thoughts,
As the end
Of conversation.

I should've listened.
I really should've.

And now
This mouth
Dances and
Says nothing.
