And the rain
falls around
me sharp
shards
of pinhead
needles,

piercing
through
the skin

on the back

of my neck,

cutting
across my
expressionless
face.

and the
sky
shakes
of thunder

and the
flashes
of lightning
illuminate
my soul.

and I walk
but
I care
not where.

and I
sing.

but only
to you.

and for
us.

and I
dance

under this
midnight
canopy
sky of
black.

missing you.

and I
laugh,

hoping
somewhere
you might
hear
me.

hoping
somewhere

here
that I
might
hear
you

laugh
in return.

but this
night
closes
tight
around  me,

like a vice
that
keeps
me humble
in my
place.

of walking
this sky

knowing
certain
that somehow
in these
clouds
of mist
that you
lie in

anticipation
above me.

I walk.
in hope
that I
might
find.

you.

and I
whisper to
the night.

in deepest
faith that

you are not

a dream.

you must
be true.
