Old lady dead

The old woman had died had been
a friend of my wife long ago.
I had only seen her once when she
aid in Portuguese β€œhe looks a bit old for you.”
I do understand the language but often
Pretend I don't understand, more comfortable that way
Save me from talking about useless things.
She had elected to be cremated it was cheaper
that way as she never liked spending money.
It took her a long time dying about a year her daughter
was irked she inherited the flat.
She, the daughter has moved into the flat
and has a great idea about the kitchen and
new, modern furniture.
Yet her death had upset me, in the night
I thought about worms and other insects,
cremation was a good thing for those who
didn't want to share their rotting flesh
with anyone.
