Change is Going to Persist

No, they don’t understand me
The clothes I choose to wear
No, they don’t understand me
They just stop and stare
I conformed to them many times
And many times I shut down
So this time if I’m going down
I’m going down as myself.

They’re frustrated with their lives
So they’re pointing fingers
They’re frustrated with their lives
So they’re shooting zingers
And change is going to persist
No matter how much they protest

No, they don’t understand me
The way I style my hair
No, they don’t understand me
They just stop and stare
I conformed to them many times
And many times I shut down
So this time if I’m going down
I’m going down as myself.

They’re frustrated with their lives
So they’re pointing fingers
They’re frustrated with their lives
So they’re shooting zingers
And change is going to persist
No matter how much they protest

No, they don’t understand me
Whom I choose to love
No, they don’t understand me
Exactly what I’m made of
I conformed to them many times
And many times I shut down
So this time if I’m going down
I’m going down as myself.

They’re frustrated with their lives
So they’re pointing fingers
They’re frustrated with their lives
So they’re shooting zingers
And change is going to persist
No matter how much they protest
