Rainy Day

Rain knocks politely against my window,

but though we are old friends,

I do not let him in,

for I have invited Warmth and Comfort around for tea.

Dejected, Rain returns with that reckless vandal Wind

to pound against the walls.

Inside, tight lipped smiles are exchanged

between furtive glances at the clock.
