Five years ago I met my wife
I didn’t know it then, and nor did she
That I would love her for the rest of my life
I’d love her more than I can comprehend
I always knew she wasn’t just a friend

The cool side of a pillow on a hot summer night
Falling after a long day onto a fluffy bed
A warm towel after a shower while it snows outside
The overwhelming smell of fresh bread
As a kid zooming down the biggest slide
All these sensations, and more, combined
Cannot compare to my joy when I see her eyes

A smile that lights my heart
A dull ache when we are apart
A laugh that keeps away the dark
Two emeralds more breath-taking than any piece of art

Five years ago I met my wife
I know it now more certainly than anything
That I will love her for the rest of my life
