I often sit on my own
although never alone
my pencils make me smile
after scribbling for a while
I see beauty flow from
my inner core
a creative spark
fills me with glee
I am content being me
alone in a crowded room
characters bounding around
on the paper singing loud
a maddening crowd
making me proud
I often sit on my own
although, never alone.

I penned this for my artist friend. It may be true of other artist friends without family and friends, some of whom may prefer to be on their own with their tools.
