The race in my head
Leaves me bellowsed
And I can't catch up
To the thoroughbreds

The breath I once loved
Is lost in my lungs
Somewhere mulligrubed

Some would call me
Apeechequanee

Perhaps I'm
Upside down
Capsized
In realities
Taunting

Deep
In the roil waters
I sink in the thoughts
And miseries
Of the past slaughtered

I'm out of air
Short of breath
Winded
And clobbered

And as I inhale
Deep
Half the oxygen
Escapes my teeth
And I exhale
Exhaustion

I lost the race in my head
But I'm glad it's the end
Because I was never conditioned
To run
What it garnered
