Black Rain
the black rain
pushes incessantly
against
the window
great dull gray streaks
spread
the ephemeral sun
into
pallid false reflections
ridiculous faces
touching ***** white
wisps of clouds
a narrow
uncertain light
falls heavily
upon a page
I have written
crossing out
an unneeded,
superfluous
word
the room
is illuminated
with a golden
bright appearance
reflected in
four varnished
corners
of the table,
which catches my eye
I look at it
and the faces melt
the whole room is like that
nothing left but great dull gray images
even the cold ridiculous sky
is like that
this diminishing light;
I can no longer write with courage
