It is cold, oh so so cold
The snow is falling for the first time ever in my area
The soft simple snow seems so scary
I dip my toes in and get frostbite on my toe

I decide to sit inside where it is warm and welcoming
My windows seem frozen but still transparent
I see all of my neighbors playing in the soft simple snow
They build snowmen and have snowball fights

Everyone is experiencing this new phenomenon in town
Experiencing it from the window is not the same
but I still sense such simple satisfaction from the neighbors

I sit in my home and watch others houses lights shut off
All of them are running out to dive in.
I stay inside and have a cup hot chocolate
my sizzling sip is satisfying and welcoming but something is missing
