a field of long grass
rolling and folding,
like scoops of butter
as the descending sun
kissed the swaying stalks
into golden wheat,
and the sweet summer breath
sighed with relief,
the sky a glowing sea
and clouds of dust
puff underneath my feet
as the dirt path
meanders aimlessly
through the fields,
here, in this small
corner of the world,
is carved out for
a breath
to simply
be
