Emerald Eyes

I told you your eyes were pretty

twin jade pools

get lost in ocean depths

deep sadness hides

behind cloudy playfulness

sparklers of excitment flashes

torrential rain of hurt

You held my face in your hands when you kissed me

lips a velvety smooth

parted surprise, anxious for more

rhythmic solace

melted peripherals

halted time

My face and heart flushed

you pulled away

breathless

hopeful reciprocation of yearning

bittersweet, those emerald eyes
