Living with and loving an addict is no fun,
Protecting your stuff with a loaded gun.

Locking doors normally left open wide,
Everything valuable now you must hide.

Oh, how the lies that fooled you into doing bad,
Now the same spew from you and make me sad.

One good day or deed and you expect respect,
But consistency is far from the life you wrecked.

Praying each day and night you see the light,
Come back home my love from this flight.

Time can heal the past you hate so much,
Let us embrace you with our loving touch.

Stay away from those who lead you astray,
Friends only if you worked or stole for pay.

The pills made you feel better and worse,
Much harm, emptying your pockets or purse.

Nothing good can come from an addict’s life,
Look in the world at all the turmoil and strife.

Now you stare out through those bars,
Cold steel, hard cot, and so many scars.

Was you thinking at all while you were high,
Family, friends and loved ones you did deny.

Nobody telling you what to do was your goal,
Accomplishing only Satan ruling your soul.

Jesus made a way when He died on that cross,
No matter your past He loves all that are lost.

Shedding His blood so you could be set free,
To become all that He really needs you to be.

No matter what you have done in the past,
It is available to all those who simply asked.

Many tears I have shed in my nightly prayers,
Asking protection and that you sort out affairs.

Now it is time for you to choose the right path,
Don’t let Satan continue to unleash his wrath.

It is only Satan’s voice that leads to despair,
And begs you to remain in his deceitful snare.

Cover your ears, do not let the lies enter in,
Jesus is the only way to be forgiven of sin.
