The fire crackles
Flames licking toward freedom
Fading out as soon as they reach too far, too selfishly
I blink
She stands, lonely and alone
Hair tumbling wildly down her back
He opens the door and looks for a moment
In this silent eternity she doesn't notice
I blink
I walk to her
Touching her cheek fondly
Lifting her chin, she looks in my eyes
Sadness, pain, and tears
Smeared across her face
Brushing the hair behind her eyes
I press my lips to hers
I blink
I slip my arms around her
Settling my hands in the small of her back
I whisper softly into her ear
And hold her tight
I blink
He dips her back and kisses her
Lifts her up, carries her to the candlelit room
And lays her down on the bed
He lays behind her
Holding her in his arms
She holds his hands in hers
And smiles
I blink
Passions play in the flickering flames
A thousand untold stories hidden
The fire crackles
I blink
