I wonder who you really are
as you cleverly
love and caress me

the caring is there
yet, the facade remains

a polite white mesh
similar to cheese cloth
or silk gauze
sheer, flowing and inviting
I can see pieces of you behind it

at times you pull the side over slightly
to peek your head out
and smile at me

when me make love
you take it down
and use it to cover the two of us
wrap us up in your beautiful facade

with it we make a tent
like white sheets on the clothesline
clean and warm

I get lost among the
rows and rows
layers and layers

we play hide and seek among the sheets
I chase you through the
layers of your facade
frantically trying to catch you
until all the spinning, chasing, and confusion
makes me dizzy

then, you smile
kiss me
and retreat
behind your beautiful facade
