She closed her eyes,
the sunlight burned
at her closed lids,
it frayed her lashes
like many burning
lashes across
her back.

She closed her eyes,
and the world kept burning
the voices
never stopped
burning
she was born to burn

don't you see

she was born to burn
fireflies and
whiskey
breathless burn
fire storm
ablaze night sky
stars
crashing
she could
still see it
behind
closed eyes

those closed doors
never kept them out
the burning
voices
her skin
it was
a voice
it begged her
it pounded against her
to burn it
burn something

burn herself

burn the door
burn the curtains
burn the bed

lean against
pull around
lie down and

sleep in the burning bed

ignore the
voices
behind the door
let them
scream
you
let it
burn

she

let them
burn.
