Distant Waters
It was symbolic in a way
when your desk fell on me
your hand touched my crotch
it was accidentally
We laughed then played it off
and your eyes met mine
it felt like a movie
with no sense of time
As days went on
and classes came to an end
that summer emerged
when we became friends
A long time you say?
I completely agree
but my hands were bound
under love’s created theme
Intention was nowhere near
although it possessed you
mine came more steady
whilst learning virtue
Our friendship was true
and always admired
you made me feel comfortable
yet also so tired
For years we went oblivious
to our own inhibitions
but you stuck by my side
thus nested my intentions
A normal day it was
like any other
we were just hanging out
with love lingering like odor
We walked and laughed
nervous for some reason
the weather was nice
the perfect season
I looked at you
and you looked at me
we both said let’s sleep
so easy to agree
We had done this a thousand times
just laying head to head
but this time more different
a new kind of bed
Just laying my eyes upon you
something sparked in my head
how perfect is she
was something left unsaid
I still can’t describe it
like a dream come true
but time was up
someone there to get you
It was brief yet powerful
for that I had not foreseen
but my words were already cursed
how could I have been so mean
violence for it was not
but very simple meaning
as seconds passed on
our friendship more demeaning
And with that phrase
now word to ear
I now understood
my insatiable fear
strangers we became
in our own delicate way
I wish I had chosen more wisely
and gone back to that day
But damage was dealt
without even knowing
how stupid could I be
without even showing
Our love now past
without even goodbye
when will this end
my sweet lullaby
