My Mortality
We cannot escape reality
A long way from where my eyes can see
Telescopic vision quest
Questioning my own mortality
Into a time before I’m free
I’m bound to feel some relief
Fade to dust, no lessons fee
At the university
The distance between you and me
One strike, two strikes, and then three
Beyond the light
The ocean; deep
Waters warm, sea of green
The quietness and when to grieve
A shock to all, total disbelief
No more pain;
Feel relieved
A pleasure captured
Stolen by a group of thieves
Don’t delay or question my punctuality
Just enjoy the air we breathe
Sunny weather
Shaded trees
Good conditions
A brisk cool breeze
Headed towards sanctuary
Where I lay, forever free
Spun by spiders
Oh the web we weave
Meant only to deceive
Hidden treasures up my sleeve
Slight of hand
Is what I’m hoping to achieve
And just before I disappear
Nothing more then a memory
Laugh and smile
And some time in which to bereave
A fallen soldier
A quest indeed
To find the answers
That have long escaped me
