My Sweet Little World

Escape

so wanted

but only comes

Once a year

for me.

You see me standing

here,

yet you do not see

the hands that hold me

to this world

that's not

my own

with force so strong

I cannot leave.

I cannot

slip

away.

My world

with grass so soft and lush

purple sky

with blue that

leaks like a stream

through a garden.

The lonely tree

so tall

a single branch

weighed down

by a swing.

my swing.

Walk some ways

down the hill

so steep

that in this world

you'd fall right off the edge

and down into the sky.

But you aren't in this world

you're in mine.

And you'll find a circle

of stones laid out

around a pit

of electric blue

the flames of a fire

but it

wont

burn.

Spread your arms

fall backwards

into flame.

This world obeys

ask for flowers

and they will grow.

I wave my hand across the sky

and

paint

a

rainbow.

But these hand so strong

grip me here

this world

where nothing changes.

overcome by sadness,

and half

as mad

as me.
