May 2018
Under the sheltered steps I sit,
A cup of coffee in my grasp.
A cold breeze flows from afar,
The product of the rain's clasp.

I walked up these steps not so long ago,
Bright streaks spread across the sky.
Now bleak and gloom have settled in,
The heavens appear to cry.

It was all going so well,
A plan had been thought out.
But things have gone awry,
Since I first heard Thunder's shout.

He screams ****** ******,
He tosses and turns.
I wish I could help
As for him my heart burns.

I know not when it passes,
Nor where it comes from.
The dark, the rain.
His heart, a maelstrom.

I let out a small sigh of defeat,
An irregular bad habit of mine.
I look up to the turmoil above,
And see the lightning shine.

For all the Chaos, for all the rage,
The soul arcs in beautiful form.
Resolute, taking one last sip
I stand, ready to face the storm.
