I didn't know a tree would grow
From just a little seed
I didn't know that it would grow
In spite of all the weeds
And I didn't know a little snow
Could ***** that raging flame
I didn't know that it would blow
To leave a lasting stain
I didn't know the fire's glow
Would chill me to the bone
I didn't know it's heady glow
Would turn my heart to stone

Just...call me slow, but I didn't know
The wiles, the ways of man
And so it goes, I didn't know
What my heart can't understand…
