I know what it is, but not what it means
Come closer children I’ve seen the light
Between the lines
Scattered across the page
The glare is blinding how could we have missed it before?
That flash of truth
That spark of inspiration
Enlightened and free to spread
That glimmer of hope
To those desperate and needy
To those with nothing more
Than the ideas floating aimlessly round their heads
Broken and forgotten
They creep through shadows
Sleep in rubble
But what can we do?
Find it
Find the will to survive
Find the fight deep inside
Find our humanity
And make it a reality
We are all animals
Untamed beasts driven by desire
Subconsciously drifting
Aimlessly wandering
The brevity of our condition is all too apparent
Control the creature inside
Show it compassion and love like it’s never known
We are human
We are alive
We are free
To decide
To think
To scheme
To scream
To make war
To make love
We are capable of such beautiful things
Step forth from the shadows
You are here you are alive
Hold your head up high
And let the light shine.
