The sun ascends in fiery birth
to shine upon a starving earth
while gently draping you and I
within its veil of lucent light,
and yet we mustn’t fear the night.
The sun shall soon forsake the sky
then raven dusk will have its way,
but if there be another day
we must let go and say goodbye.
The form is called novo otto. Eight syllables per line with rhyme scheme: aacbbcddc.
