Young Eli set the bodies
on fire in the backyard;
the new neighbors weren't landed                                                         gentry;
he came over to see the daughter;
when was Eli ever sixteen;
she began to go over the field to see him
he'd be outside blasting heavy metal &     throwing      paint  at    a    canvas;
her family was from NYC & she'd attended Sarah Lawrence
so art wasn't new to her
         especially this art;
are u trying to be another Jackson            P    ollack
                             she asked derisively;
Eli slapped her & she hit the wet grass
I am ******* Jackson Pollack
there were no more questions;
the critics picked it up & he was called reborn
w/ an identity crisis that left him w/ no identity;
they married & moved back to her old                                  neighborhood
where Eli continued to paint all over the room
& on the roof so there was paint everywhere;

when Eli went back to the farm he was rich
& she went w/ him although she would                        rather
                               have
stayed in New York
