Tiny whirlwinds rose
Out of the forest floor
Stirring up the autumn leaves
That lay about the ground
The breeze raised steadily
To a gale that howled
Up and down through
The trees, routing the wildlife
Who fled the area.
An eerie silence lingered
The place in the wake
Of the disturbance
And the air, now putrefy
Felt deathly frigid
