for absolutely no reason, whatsoever,
      a thorn in my backside,
or rather an itch on my head -
wheneever people stutter with
                               the "n- word"...
because, what, the insinuation is there?
an immediate racial connotation?
i believe the "n- word" is a biased
preposition, of what is actually being
subverted... dunno, listening to
some dr. dre or n.w.a. and i feel no
racial connotation associated with
"the" word anymore...
                 even in an outer-urban
environment the word has morphed
far beyond orthodox media implications...
if it was once a racial slur,
the fact that it's applied in a cultural
medium, brushed off by rappers tells you
something...
see... i find that the once racial
slur, has become an urban slur,
   a purely urban connotation...
but of course, those who use the phrase
the n- word don't see it as such,
what's a ****** to me?
a petty thief, when the boss
is a bank robber, or hatton garden job
crew... those aren't *******,
                   those are bosses...
and from a petty thief to a joyrider,
or those boys who pretend they're
                                               gangsters...
then there's the odd chance of talking
to some random on Brick Lane who
tries to scam you out of a bus fare...
     because the excuse is:
               i live in Peckam and i can't
be bothered to walk...
              ******: i once walked from
the Sq. Mile to Goodmayes...
                     straight down the no. 25
and then the no. 86 bus routes...
dunno what made me do it,
i guess i wanted to feel what it must
have felt on 7/7 bombings when
the whole transport system was paralysed...
it's not a petty nigerian,
             the word within the confines
of the media "elite" is precisely that,
a racial slur, because the connotation
derived from the phrase: the n- word,
will not give you the idea of a petty thief,
a wannabe gangster...
                  you can call them little
nigerians, but only because of the:
ooh! added extra g!
                                  even me,
half-urban creature, half: farmer's
labourer and horse keeper can see past
what is, and what isn't associated
with this word...
                               i don't know if owning
up to liking black **** (our very own
modern Loci ******) or having done a black
girl in on a leather sofa is a follow-up
defence argument...
              absolutely no shock-value
intended,
but you can pick up the people
who still prize the racial connotation
within the historical (rather than modern)
use of the word...
it's like they relish saying it
in private, but publically?
                    it's always the: n- word.
