Merely Shadows
We are merely shadows
Reality unclear
The only world we know, a cave
And the silence makes it hard to hear
Whisper in my ear the knowledge
Hopefully I'll understand
All there's to do is turn around
All I do is stand
Look into the light at first
Take it in, slow and deep
But don't look back into the darkness
The cave of soundless sleep
For knowledge is a mighty power
And knowledge takes will
But with knowledge there's a price to pay
A tragedy that's real
They
are merely shadows
Reality unclear
The only world
they
know a cave
And the silence makes it hard to hear
This is a poem that was written after I read Plato's, **Allegory of the Cave**
