People know less
about the pain that's under all that smile
the tears that are shed
and the scars and wounds afflicted by the world

a pale skin
and a heart full of anguish
how much it had to bear
how much it took to repair

the sharpness in words
how it slits the edges of the heart
like a rose garden it spreads in the soul
a heart covered with thorns, a heart once soft now cold

how much torment the body took
the touch of hunger slowly dragging me in remorse
the untold story, the words that could have been uttered before
but my frightful soul is what kept silent all these years.
